Bright ideas for accessibility

Melbourne’s best and brightest have submitted ideas to help make our city more accessible through our Open Innovation Competition.

Almost one in five people experience some form of disability, so many members of our community face challenges as they move through Melbourne.

These include wayfinding, locating accessible parking, navigating footpaths and the ability to be flexible and spontaneous in their experiences.

Powered by our Open Data platform, the Open Innovation Competition sought data-driven, tech-savvy and scalable ideas that will help people with disability participate in all aspects of city life.

Winners will receive a cash prize and support to bring their idea to life.

This will include mentoring and resources from the City of Melbourne, its Disability Advisory Committee and expert partner organisations in the disability, innovation and technology sectors.
