Discover something new at Melbourne’s iconic Queen Victoria Market with the help of our friendly city ambassadors, now roving every market day.
Unmissable in their distinctive red uniforms, the volunteers know Melbourne like no one else. So who better to help you explore the market’s 650 small businesses and many vibrant events?
‘Three generations of my family have always shopped at the Queen Victoria Market – it’s a beautiful historical landmark,’ said Filomena Lamonato, a dedicated City Ambassador.
‘When I’ve travelled, I appreciate it when someone can help me with the right direction or give me some local knowledge. So I love to be able to return that feeling for tourists and locals alike.
‘It’s a pleasure to be able to help them and maybe answer some questions about our beautiful city and what they would like to do. The reward is watching them walk away happy.’
Bringing city ambassadors to Queen Victoria Market is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the market as a flourishing destination for traders, locals and visitors.
From mid year, we’ll also have a new purpose-built visitor hub located at the market.
Queen Victoria Market is open every Tuesday, and Thursday to Sunday.
